How Sweet It Is
A little chocolate never hurt anyone. In fact, studies suggest that cocoa, an ingredient in chocolate, may have health benefits, such as improving heart health and boosting brain function, especially in older adults.
The Strong Mind Strong Body Foundation has partnered with See’s Candies, one of the best chocolate makers in the world, and opened a candy store to support our youth development programs and community solutions work.
See’s candies are made with fresh ingredients and do not use preservatives. If you’ve ever had See’s candies, you know they are some of the best chocolate you’ll ever eat. If you’ve never had See’s, today is your lucky day. Our store is open until March 15. We’ll receive profits from any items you purchase from our See’s store.
See’s has been making quality chocolates and candy since 1921, when the company was founded by Charlie See, his wife, Florence, and his widowed mother, Mary See. They came to Los Angeles from Canada and opened the first See’s Candies shop and kitchen at 135 North Western Avenue. The business prospered by selling Mary’s delicious confections, made from her own original recipes. They expanded across Los Angeles, and by 1925, there were a dozen See’s chocolate shops in the city, including a location in the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater building.
By the end of the 1950s, See’s expanded to 124 shops in California and employed over 1,000 people. In January 1972, See’s Candies became part of the Berkshire Hathaway family, when Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger purchased the company. To this day, See’s is one of Warren’s favorite businesses.
Now, See’s is headquartered in San Francisco and has over 200 shops across America. Though they continue to grow, their commitment to tradition, taste, service and quality never wavers.
For over 100 years, See’s Candies has been making quality chocolate and candy Mary See’s way. From the beginning, Mary took pride in her recipes and insisted on only the finest, freshest ingredients. Today, they are still just as committed to making candy the right way. Some of See’s candies are still made using Mary’s own original recipes, including Peanut Brittle, Victoria Toffee, and Chocolate Walnut Fudge.
You can visit one of the iconic black-and-white See’s shops inspired by Mary’s kitchen and find over 100 varieties of delicious candy, chocolates, and seasonal gifts made with the same motto they have always had: Quality Without Compromise®.
That is why we are so excited and honored to be partnering with See’s Candies, a legendary community builder that has been bringing friends and families together for generations. Partnerships and collaborations make the world a better place.
